We are committed to maintaining an active research culture that contributes conceptually and empirically to geographical knowledge and supports our teaching. We maintain well-funded research programs with high levels of participation in geographical conferences, and active publication records.

We consider it fundamental that our research encompasses diverse global sites, ranging from Arctic environments, and marginalized regions of the Global South, to the urban spaces of Toronto and beyond.

Departmental research is roughly divided into the following broad categories for convenience:
